Field and laboratory research – Applied psychologists tend to conduct their research in the field (homes, hospitals, factories, schools, shopping malls, psychotherapy clinics) rather than in the laboratory. The laboratory remains the place that provides the best opportunity to study the effect of a particular variable in isolation from other variables.
