Hopelessness Scale for Children (HSC)

a children’s version of the Beck Hopelessness Scale (see Beck Hopelessness Scale in Chapter 1.7. Key Psychological Terms in Personality Psychology), designed for screening studies of behavioral characteristics and attitudes of children and adolescents aged 12-18 years. There are two factors in the scale that do not correlate with each other: 1) Negative attitude to the present and future life. Includes questions formulated in a negative way.2) A positive attitude towards the future. Includes questions with positive wording.
Through many experiments and research, it has been revealed that the factor “Negative ideas about the future” has a significant prognostic value in relation to the detection of depression and suicide risk in adolescents.
