Frontal Lobe Function Assessment Battery (FAB)

A brief screening tool used at the patient’s bedside to assess executive functions related to the work of the frontal lobes. It includes six subtests: similarity (conceptualization), verbal fluency, motor series (programming), contradictory instruction execution (sensitivity to interference), stop-walk test (inhibition control), and grasping behavior (dependence on the environment). Each subtest is evaluated from 0 to 3 points, the maximum total score is 18. FAB is performed quickly (about 10 minutes) and is used in neurology and neuropsychology to detect frontal lobe dysfunction in dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.
