Adaptive Resonance Theory

a concept developed by Steven Grossberg, which describes the mechanism of information processing in an artificial neural device that mimics the properties of the natural nervous system. The essence of the theory is that neural networks are tuned to adequately process incoming signals through constant updating of the weights of neural connections, providing an optimal response to changes in external conditions. The theory predicts the importance of balancing stability and plasticity in neural networks, making it a promising model for modeling how the brain works.
