Afferent pupillary defect
also known as Marcus-Gunn pupil, a neurological symptom that indicates a disruption in the conduction of light through the optic nerve or retina. It is detected using the “pendulum flashlight” test: when transferring light from a normal eye to an affected one, the pupils paradoxically dilate instead of constricting. It is often observed in optic neuritis, glaucoma or severe retinal diseases.
