A congenital anomaly of the development of the brain, in which the corpus callosum – the main structure connecting the two hemispheres – is completely or partially absent. Clinical manifestations range from mild cognitive and social difficulties to severe mental retardation, impaired coordination, and seizures. Some people may not have noticeable symptoms, and the development proceeds normally.
