Alternating Sequence Test
A neuropsychological test that is used to assess executive functions, especially the ability to plan, switch attention, and organize actions. In this test, the patient is asked to perform tasks that require the sequential performance of various actions according to a certain alternating scheme, for example, alternating numbers and letters or alternating hand movements. The purpose of the test is to assess the patient’s ability to switch between different tasks and adapt to new rules. The test can be useful in diagnosing a variety of disorders, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and other neurological conditions.
