Amentia (amentative confusion)
qualitative impairment of consciousness; a deep form of confusion of consciousness, in which confusion and incoherence (disintegration) are observed, i.e. the impossibility of comprehending the environment in a generalized, holistic form and the impossibility of evaluating one’s own personality. Amentia is characterized by: gross disorientation, fragmentary reflection, incoherent (incoherent) thinking, psychomotor disorders (agitation or stupor). There are also sharply pronounced affective disorders (confusion, bewilderment), emotional lability, asthenia and somatovegetative disorders. Individual hallucinations and episodes of delirium may be observed. Amentia is also characterized by short-term states with the disappearance of excitement, often accompanied by partial orientation in the environment and formal contact.
