Amyloid angiopathy

A disease of the blood vessels in the brain, in which amyloid protein accumulates in the walls of the vessels, leads to their weakening and increases the risk of cerebral hemorrhages (hemorrhagic strokes), especially in the elderly.
Amyloid angiopathy is often associated with Alzheimer’s disease and is one of the causes of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhages. The disease is detected through neuroimaging and requires monitoring and treatment to reduce the risk of complications.
