A speech disorder in which the patient loses the ability to find specific words, especially nouns and verbs, while speech comprehension and fluency remain relatively intact. Patients with anomic aphasia usually have a good understanding of spoken and written speech, but have difficulty finding words when communicating. Most often associated with injuries in the left temporal or parietal lobe of the brain.
