Aphantasia

a psychophysical state in the presence of which a person does not have the ability to consciously create images in front of the “mind’s eye”. In the case of this state, a person has the ability to mentally experience sensations only if he receives information from the external world with the help of some sense organ and does not have the opportunity to “create” and experience sensations at his own discretion in the absence of appropriate sensory information. In different people, aphantasia can affect one or more different types of sensations to different degrees, so the state is a spectrum that begins with the complete inability to “create” and experience sensations related to all types of feelings, and ends with the ability to “create” weakly expressed sensations (assessed on the VVIQ scale of the Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire).
