Asperger’s syndrome
neurodevelopmental disorder previously considered a separate subtype of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is characterized by difficulties in social interaction, limited and repetitive forms of behavior or interests, while maintaining intelligence and the absence of significant delays in speech development. People with Asperger’s Syndrome may have difficulty understanding social cues, maintaining dialogue, and adapting to change, often demonstrating high abilities in narrow areas of interest. Despite the widespread use of the term, in the DSM-5 it is included in the general diagnosis of ASD.
