A neuropsychological disorder characterized by the loss of the ability to understand or use symbols or signs, such as words, gestures, or objects, to represent concepts, emotions, or experiences. People with asymbolism may not recognize symbolic meaning or connections, making it difficult to communicate and perceive.the condition can occur when areas of the brain responsible for processing symbolic information, such as the left hemisphere (especially the temporal or parietal lobes), which play a key role in language and symbolic thinking, are damaged.
