Auditory agnosia

A rare neurological disorder in which a person is unable to recognize or identify sounds despite normal auditory perception and the ability to understand speech. It occurs when the auditory cortex or the brain pathways responsible for processing auditory information are damaged. People with auditory agnosia may hear sounds but cannot interpret their meaning, such as not recognizing familiar voices, ambient noises, or music. The condition can occur with brain injuries, strokes, or neurodegenerative diseases.
