Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by qualitative deviations in social interaction and communication, as well as a restricted, stereotyped, repetitive set of interests and activities. These qualitative anomalies are common features of an individual’s functioning in all situations and may vary significantly in degree of severity. ASD is characterized by the manifestation of first signs in early childhood (most often before the age of three), delay and lag in the development of various mental functions and social-communicative skills, persistence of anomalies in social functioning and behavioral characteristics throughout life. Children with ASD also demonstrate specific features of perception and processing of sensory information.
