Avoidant type of attachment
one of the types of attachment identified by J. Bowlby. This is a style of emotional response in a relationship, in which a person seeks to minimize intimacy and dependence on a partner. This style is formed in childhood and is often associated with a lack of emotional support from parents. Outwardly, people with the avoidant type of attachment seem cold, detached and independent, but behind this “façade” there is a fear of vulnerability and deep sincere attachment.
