Behavioral Ignoring Test (BIT)
A neuropsychological tool used to assess the unilateral spatial neglect that often occurs with brain injuries, especially injuries to the right hemisphere. The test assesses a person’s ability to pay attention to and respond to stimuli at various spatial locations, especially the ignored side of space, usually the left side, in patients with right hemisphere injury. BIT consists of several subsystems that assess different types of attention and visual scanning abilities, including line dissection, visual search tasks, and letter crossing out tasks. This test is often used in clinical practice to diagnose and monitor patients with neglect syndrome.
