Brief Visual-Spatial Memory Test
Revision (BVMT-R) is a neuropsychological assessment designed to measure visuospatial memory – the ability to remember and reproduce visual information related to space, shapes and spatial relationships. The test is designed to assess a person’s ability to encode, store, and retrieve visual-spatial data after brief exposure to a set of images. It consists of a series of simple abstract drawings that participants must memorize and then later reproduce from memory. BVMT-R is widely used in clinical practice to assess cognitive function in people with memory disorders, traumatic brain injuries, dementia, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The test provides a reliable measure of visual memory and is often used in conjunction with other tests to assess broader cognitive abilities.
