Brunström therapy

a method of motor rehabilitation, in which, in contrast to Bobath therapy, the patient’s pathological synergies and reflexes are used, which give the initiation of movements on the opposite side. At the same time, additional stimuli of skin irritation are used, which enhance the muscle response. The method was developed by the famous Swedish-American physiotherapist Sondra Brunström (see Brunström, Signe in Chapter 5 Famous Scientists, Their Scientific Schools and Organizations in Psychological Science).
