Cambridge Face Memory Test (CFMT)

A neuropsychological test designed to assess a person’s ability to recognize and remember faces. The test specifically measures face perception and facial memory, which are important cognitive functions for social interactions and recognition tasks. The CFMT consists of three main stages: training, in which participants are shown a set of faces and asked to study them; testing, in which the participant must recognize the studied faces among outsiders; and delayed testing, where the same faces are shown after a delay to assess long-term memory. The test assesses memory for faces, regardless of overall memory abilities, and is especially useful for diagnosing prosopagnosia (face blindness), a condition in which a person is unable to recognize faces despite having normal vision. CFMT is widely used in both clinical and research practice to study the neural and cognitive mechanisms of facial recognition.
