Catatonic excitation
a psychopathological state in which there is an increase in mental activity, accompanied by motor and mental excitement. In this state, behavior is monotonous, meaningless and unfocused. It is accompanied by motor stereotypies, echolalia (see Echolalia in Chapter 2.1: Key Psychological Concepts in Clinical Psychology) and echopraxias (see Echopraxia in Chapter 2.1: Key Psychological Concepts in Clinical Psychology), as well as impulsive actions. Facial expressions often do not correspond to the situation and the position taken. Fragmentary delusional experiences and verbal pseudo-hallucinations may be observed.
