A progressive neurodegenerative disease found in people with a history of repetitive traumatic brain injuries, such as contact sports athletes or the military. It is characterized by the accumulation of abnormal tau protein in the brain, which leads to cognitive impairment, mood disorders, behavioral changes, and motor symptoms.
