Manifestations of grief are extremely pronounced, take place for a relatively long time, lead to social disadaptation and aggravating suffering. A complicated grief response implies the idea that any grief reaction is normal and non-pathological, but there are a number of complications (mental disorders) after bereavement; i.e. the pathology is depression and/or PTSD and other mental disorders caused by severe loss, which interfere with the normal course of grief.
