Components of learned helplessness
Components of the phenomenon of learned helplessness:
1) Repeated negative stimuli are situations in which a person feels powerless, for example, constant failure or loss of control.
2) Behavioral learning – a person acquires the behavior of withdrawal or surrender as a result of previous experiences.
3) Generalization – powerlessness is not limited to the initial situation, but extends to other situations, even if they are under the control of the person.
4) Psychological consequences – decreased motivation, feelings of hopelessness, mood swings, and impaired decision-making ability.
