“Comprehensive Guide to Neuropsychological Testing”
method developed by B.Y. Bizyuk, which is a fundamental reference book in the field of neuropsychological diagnostics. The manual combines theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of the use of various tests for the study of higher brain functions. This guide is based on a systematic presentation of a wide range of standardized and non-standardized psychological tests examining a person’s cognitive, emotional, and motor abilities, with a particular focus on children and adolescents. The guide includes a detailed classification of tests by target functional areas: such as tests for attention and concentration, memory (visual, auditory, working), executive functions, visuospatial perception, speech, thinking and problem solving, fine motor skills. The manual also explains how each test is conducted, the necessary conditions for its use, the method of recording the results and the mechanisms for interpreting them based on statistical criteria. The value of this manual lies not only in the selection of tests, but also in the provision of a unified diagnostic system to help the neuropsychologist choose the appropriate tool, taking into account the age, nature of the problem and the purpose of the examination (diagnosis, follow-up or evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention). In addition, Bizyuk presents models of diagnostic batteries that combine several tests into a single protocol, which contributes to the formation of a holistic picture of the condition of the examined child or adult. This work represents an important stage in the development of Russian neuropsychology, as it laid the scientific foundation for standardized and reliable diagnostics and linked the neurological theory of brain functioning with the procedural mechanisms of clinical examination. Thus, it has become an indispensable tool for psychologists, pediatricians and neurologists working in the field of neuropsychological diagnosis and rehabilitation.
