Comprehensive rehabilitation
a system of medical, psychological, pedagogical, socio-economic and socio-political measures aimed at restoring the functional capabilities and social status of a person with disabilities, as well as achieving his financial independence. The main areas of comprehensive rehabilitation include measures aimed at persons with disabilities on the one hand, and at society on the other. The first category of measures includes:
1) restorative medical methods: physiotherapy, reconstructive surgery, prosthetics and orthotics, occupational therapy, sanatorium treatment, etc.;
2) occupational therapy;
3) methods of adaptive physical education: physical culture and recreational activities, conductive pedagogy, outdoor games, hippotherapy, valid sports;
4) methods of social influence: socio-environmental and socio-domestic rehabilitation, socio-cultural rehabilitation, self-help groups, centers of independent life;
5) vocational rehabilitation: vocational guidance, training and education, assistance in employment, industrial adaptation, etc.;
6) socio-psychological methods of rehabilitation: psychological counseling, psychocorrection, psychotherapy, social skills training, environmental therapy, etc.;
7) methods of psychological and pedagogical orientation: correctional and pedagogical, information and educational programs, teaching “life with disabilities”, etc.
2) adaptation of the urban planning and living environment to the needs of persons with disabilities;
3) programs to destigmatize persons with disabilities.
