involuntary muscle contractions, characterized by a high degree of muscle tension. A distinction is made between tonic cramps – prolonged muscle tension, and clonic cramps – short-term jolt-like contractions. Convulsions occur spontaneously as a reaction to certain external and internal stimuli; can be a consequence of epilepsy, organic brain lesions. In children, they easily occur at an early age, which, as a rule, is due to the immaturity of the central nervous system, under the influence of infections, injuries, psychogenic influences. There are special anticonvulsants that are prescribed by a doctor in parallel with the course of treatment of the underlying disease that caused the seizures.
