Counseling Psychology
A branch of psychology focused on supporting and improving personal and interpersonal functioning throughout life. The field of counseling covers emotional, social, professional, educational, medical, and organizational issues, including improving well-being, overcoming crises, and maladaptation. A counseling psychologist works with individual, family, group, and organizational systems, concentrating on the adaptation and effective use of the client’s resources, in contrast to the clinical psychologist, who focuses on the causes of maladaptation.
