A form of dyslexia in which a person has difficulty reading, accompanied by errors such as replacing words with words with a similar meaning or appearance, as well as difficulty reading unfamiliar words. Patients with profound dyslexia are often unable to read words correctly, despite maintaining other cognitive functions.
