Differences Between Psychological Correction, Psychological Counseling, Psychotherapy, and Psychiatry
These concepts differ in their essence, depth and goals, although they are all united by concern for the mental health of a person and are aimed at improving the quality of his life:
1) Psychological correction is the initial level of intervention, which has a preventive and educational nature. It aims to correct minor mistakes or deviations in behavior, thinking, or daily habits, without diving into deeper psychological conflicts or problems. This includes: changing teaching methods, improving interpersonal skills, or adapting human behavior.
3) Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is a deeper and more comprehensive approach that focuses on the direct treatment of psychological and behavioral disorders through systemic therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, dialectical therapy, and group therapy. It focuses on changing patterns of thinking, behavior, and emotions, so it requires qualifications and specialized skills.
