Digital traumatization

(cybertrauma) is a psychological trauma caused or aggravated by the impact of the digital environment, which leads to long-term negative consequences for the mental and sometimes physical health of a person. Psychological trauma results from excessive or repeated exposure to digital content that contains shocking or disturbing information. This happens in an online environment where inappropriate content is spread: cyberbullying or constant negative news. Psychologically, digital trauma can lead to increased levels of anxiety, depression, or even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Recovery may require psychotherapy and digital hygiene training.
