Directions of socio-cultural rehabilitation
in the practice of socio-cultural activities in Russia, the UAE and other countries, the following areas are widely used:
1) Socio-cultural activities of libraries with persons with disabilities are aimed at promoting their independent improvement, providing access to information and organizing leisure activities. On the basis of many libraries, active circle and club work is carried out with persons with disabilities. The use of virtual information spaces in the interests of persons with disabilities is widespread, modern multimedia software is used, which creates a fundamentally new barrier-free socio-cultural environment for persons with disabilities. The system of electronic libraries is developed. To ensure a sufficiently high level of service for persons with disabilities in libraries, national standards and guidelines for library services for persons with disabilities that have become widespread serve them.
2) Socio-cultural activities with the use of recreational zones – programs of recreational and health courses for people with limited motor activity, developed and applied in practice in the work of various parks, clubs, cinemas and other leisure institutions (summer computer camp for persons with disabilities, hippotherapy, recreational complex, etc.). Recently, there has been an interest in the wider participation of persons with disabilities in leisure activities designed for physically healthy people, which is provided by special integrated recreational programs.
3) The work of museums with persons with disabilities is aimed at self-identification of the individual through familiarization with cultural and natural heritage. The most common forms of work are: information services through the provision of brochures and other information; assistance of specially trained personnel and equipment for people with special needs (sign language interpreters, light alarms for the deaf, symbolic symbols on tickets, use of tangible objects for the blind, etc.); equipment and special technical means (ensuring a barrier-free environment, route maps with instructions for special toilets, places for rest, lifts, stairs indicating the number of steps). An important area of museum work is art therapy for the blind and visually impaired, their artistic and creative rehabilitation. A special type of museum activity is a story not for people with disabilities, but about themselves, what is needed for healthy people to overcome their prejudice against people with disabilities.
4) The work of theaters and concert halls mainly consists in ensuring the accessibility of appropriate premises for persons with disabilities by analogy with museums, providing persons with hearing and visual impairments with auxiliary technical means that facilitate the perception of performances; allocation of special seats, holding charity shows, concerts, performances. – Artistic and aesthetic education and leisure are carried out both in institutions focused on working with people with disabilities, and intended for people without disabilities under special rehabilitation programs that provide for both aesthetic development and correctional, developmental and therapeutic means (theater, music, art and other studios).
