“Door in the face”

a socio-psychological phenomenon that consists in the fact that people are inclined to make a concession and agree to an unattractive offer if it is offered to them immediately after their refusal of another more burdensome request. This phenomenon is the basis of the manipulation technique of the same name. It was first described in 1975 by the American psychologist R. Cialdini and co-authors.
