Dynamics of emotional and cognitive maturity

The interrelated and evolving relationship between emotional maturity and cognitive development in children. The development of cognitive psychological functions is inseparable from emotional maturity. Emotions affect attention, memory, and thinking, and these functions, in turn, develop, helping to increase the child’s ability to regulate his emotions. This relationship is dynamic and reciprocal, that is, the development of one aspect contributes to the further development of the other. Disruption of these dynamics (for example, excessive anxiety or impulsivity) can negatively affect learning and academic performance. Hence the interest in developing combined assessment tools that allow for the comprehensive measurement of emotional-cognitive development, as well as in developing educational and therapeutic interventions that support this vital balance.
