Dysfunction of the limbic system

A disorder in which the limbic system is responsible for processing emotions, forming emotional memory, and connecting sensory sensations with feelings. Any dysfunction or disruption in this neural network leads to difficulties in regulating emotions, controlling anxiety and anger, and understanding one’s own and others’ emotions. Children suffering from this neurological disorder may experience extreme mood swings, poor social adjustment, and difficulty retrieving emotional information during the learning process.
