Early intervention

diagnostics of current development and development of a comprehensive program of correctional work with young children (up to 3 years old); It is necessary for children whose development is significantly impaired as a result of congenital changes or changes associated with the environment in the first years of life (insufficient feeding, unskillful or cruel treatment of the child, etc.), whose development is threatened as a result of biological factors (low birth weight). The main goal is to ensure the social, economic, intellectual and physical growth of a child with developmental disorders, and to achieve maximum success in unlocking his potential. It has a preventive orientation (prevention of secondary defects); serves to habilitate the family so that it is able to meet the needs of the child as efficiently as possible. The system of early intervention includes the following set of services:
1) direct services for children – medical support, occupational therapy, speech therapy, structured training programs, etc.;
2) services for parents – programs of parent self-help groups, development of knowledge about the child and parenting skills, individual and group counseling;
3) services for families – group programs for other family members, specific forms of assistance (providing “respite” to parents), home assistance, financial support;
4) services for society – the work of early intervention agencies, promoting the inclusion of children with developmental disabilities in regular preschool institutions, protecting children’s rights, contributing to the fact that society is aware of the problems of atypical children.
