A general designation for brain disorders caused by disease, injury, or exposure to toxins. It can occur with metabolic disorders, infections, intoxications, hypoxia or chronic diseases. It is manifested by confusion, memory impairment, behavior changes, convulsions and a decrease in the level of wakefulness.
