Environment and Psychology (Origins of Environmental Psychology)
Environmental psychology emerged as a branch of psychology in the 1960s in response to the need to understand the influence of the environment on human behavior and vice versa. This field studies the relationship between the individual and the environment, as well as the effects of external stimuli on cognitive function, emotion, performance, and mental health. It also focuses on the design of human-friendly environments and is considered an applied interdisciplinary science that combines psychology, architecture, sociology, and ecology.
