An emotional and affective sense of connection to the place or environment in which a person lives. This is a component of self-identity that forms an “environmental personality”, reflecting how a person sees himself in the context of his natural and social position. This belonging generates a sense of security, stability and responsibility towards the environment. If it weakens, a feeling of alienation or apathy towards the environment may arise.
