Environmental education

An organized process that aims to educate individuals and communities to understand and interact with the natural and social environment in a responsible and sustainable manner. It combines scientific knowledge, positive behaviour and ethical values that contribute to the protection of the environment and the conservation of natural resources, while raising people’s awareness of the impact of their activities on the environment and the health of living organisms, including humans. Objectives of environmental education:
1) Raising environmental awareness: understanding the components of the natural and social environment, their interrelations and the impact of human activities.
2) Developing positive environmental behaviour: implementing everyday practices that preserve the environment, such as recycling, rationalising resource consumption and conserving biodiversity.
3) Increasing individual and collective responsibility: educating people about their responsibility for the environment and making sustainable decisions in everyday and professional life.
4) Developing the ability to solve environmental problems: teaching people how to deal with environmental problems, think critically and find innovative and sustainable solutions.
5) Inculcation of ethical and social values: respect for nature, cooperation with society and respect for the rights of future generations to natural resources.
