Essential tremor

A common neurological disorder manifested by rhythmic, involuntary oscillations, most often in the hands, but sometimes in the head, voice, or other parts of the body. Usually worse with movement (action tremor) and can interfere with daily activities such as writing or eating. The exact cause is unknown, but genetic factors play an important role, and in many cases the disease is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. Although essential tremor is not life-threatening, it can significantly reduce the quality of life. Treatment includes beta-blockers or anticonvulsants, and in severe cases, surgical methods such as deep brain stimulation.
