Examples of overt racism
Situations in which a clear form of racism can manifest itself:
1) In everyday society. Using racist or verbal abuse against a person because of their skin color or ethnic origin. Denying certain services to a person in a restaurant or store because of their race or nationality. Explicit discrimination in public spaces, such as prohibiting a certain group from using public spaces or areas.
2) In education. Refusal to admit a student to a school or university because of their race or ethnicity. Unequal treatment in the classroom: Giving students of certain races fewer opportunities to participate in activities or projects.
3) In work and institutions. Refusal to hire or promote an employee on the basis of ethnicity, even if he or she has the necessary qualifications. Arbitrary dismissal on racial or national grounds. Applying explicit policies that prioritize one ethnic group over another in the workplace.
4) In politics and management. Enacting laws or policies prohibiting a certain group from voting or running for public office. Advertising racist slogans that promote the superiority of a group.
5) In the media and culture. Promoting derogatory or offensive stereotypes about a particular ethnic group in films, advertisements, or news. Use of overtly racist language in media content or official guidelines.
