Exchange relations
a model of human relations based on the principle of mutual benefit, where each party expects a return on what he receives and mutual benefits commensurate with the efforts or resources expended. These relationships focus on fairness, balance, and direct or tangible rewards, and are characterized by less flexibility in provision than integrative or complementary relationships. A model of social relations in which each party seeks to achieve its individual interests through a balanced exchange of resources, support, or services, with the expectation that the reward received will be commensurate with what it provides. These relationships are built on the principles of fairness, honesty and cost-based compensation.
