Existential-humanistic theory
A theory that proceeds from a philosophical-humanistic perspective that considers psychosomatic symptoms as a reflection of the existential crisis experienced by a person as a result of the loss of the meaning of life, a sense of alienation or conflict with oneself. When a person cannot achieve a balance between their inner values and the demands of reality, or experiences chronic frustration without expressing it, their body becomes a tool for translating this crisis into physical symptoms. Treatment is seen as a way to restore the meaning of life, free a person from repression and increase his awareness of himself and his needs.
