Exometesthesia

A rare sensory disorder in which tactile sensations are perceived as coming from some distance from the body, rather than from the surface of the skin. Usually associated with neurological disorders such as parietal lobe lesions, peripheral nerve damage, or certain psychiatric conditions. The phenomenon can be caused by a change in the scheme of the body and the perception of space. Treatment is aimed at eliminating the underlying cause.
