Family myth

a socio-psychological phenomenon, which is a distorted, unrealistic ideas of family members about themselves, each other and the family as a whole. These ideas are coordinated at the subconscious level, are not questioned and allow each family member to build his own psychological defense with the people around him and within the family. The family myth, therefore, is a kind of group defense mechanism that contributes to maintaining the integrity of the family system.
