Fantastic confabulation
A type of false memory in which a person talks about strange, implausible, or impossible events as if they were real. Such narratives are usually not related to real experience and often contain fantastic or dream-like elements. Unlike lying, confabulation occurs unintentionally and is usually caused by damage to the brain, especially the frontal lobes, or certain psychiatric conditions. It is observed in Korsakoff syndrome, traumatic brain injuries and certain forms of dementia.
