Fauvil syndrome
A rare stem syndrome that occurs when the inferior-medial pons are affected, usually due to occlusion of the paramedian branches of the basilar artery. It is characterized by a combination of ipsilateral lesions of cranial nerves VI (abductor) and VII (facial), contralateral hemiparesis, and sometimes contralateral loss of sensation. In addition, paresis of the gaze and sensory disorders in the facial area may be observed. The clinical picture depends on the exact localization of the focus in the bridge. Treatment is aimed at eliminating the vascular cause and rehabilitating neurological disorders.
