Finger localization test

A neurological test to assess tactile perception, proprioception, and the brain’s ability to integrate sensory information, often used to examine parietal lobe function. The examiner lightly touches one or more of the patient’s fingers (with the eyes open or closed) and asks to determine which finger or fingers were affected. Performance disorders may indicate lesions of the parietal cortex, damage to the sensory pathways, or disorders such as digital agnosia. The test is often used in neuropsychological research and in neurological examination at the patient’s bedside.
