Forgiveness
A complex intrapersonal process aimed at getting rid of negative emotions (anger, resentment, thirst for revenge) in relation to the person who committed the offense, and changing the attitude to the event that occurred, without necessarily reconciliation, justification of the offender’s actions or denial of the fact of harm caused. Components of the process:
1) Cognitive: understanding the situation, rejection of rumination (obsessive scrolling of the event);
2) Emotional: reducing the intensity of negative feelings, the appearance of empathy for the offender;
3) Behavioral: refusal of revenge, sabotage, or passive aggression.
Forgiveness helps relieve psychological stress, restore social relationships, and turn conflict experiences into opportunities for personal development.
